Matt Owens is the Vice President of Human Resources for Turnberry. In partnership with the executive team, Owens is responsible for developing and executing the organization’s human resources strategy. He oversees talent acquisition, talent management, compensation, benefits, payroll, and employee relations, as well as provides HR support and guidance to all Turnberry assets.

Owens joined Turnberry in 2018 as the Director of People + Culture for the JW Marriott Nashville. Owens assisted the property in achieving several city, state and Marriott International Awards, including Hotel of the Year for Marriott Luxury Brands in North America in 2019. He was also appointed as Co-Chair of the Greater Nashville Marriott Business Council. Prior to joining Turnberry, Owens spent 19 years with Marriott International including nine years with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. For six years, he was the Market Director of Human Resources for The Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota, FL, including The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, The Ritz-Carlton Members Beach and Golf Clubs, and three Ritz-Carlton Residences.

Owens has an MBA in HR Management and Organizational Science from the George Washington University of Business. He earned his bachelor’s degree from James Madison University. He is a Society for Human Resource Management: Senior Certified Professional (SCP).
