Turnberry has a company history rooted in family, innovation, and community. Fifty years ago, Donald Soffer arrived in South Florida with an extraordinary vision. He purchased 785 acres of submerged, undeveloped swamp and marshland facing the Intracoastal Waterway in North Dade County and from a sketch on a cocktail napkin, he began building what is today the great City of Aventura – known for iconic destinations like the JW Marriott Turnberry Resort & Spa and Aventura Mall.
Over the years, the family-run business has built an impressive portfolio of projects extending beyond South Florida into markets including Nashville, Tennessee, Las Vegas, Nevada, Arlington, Virginia, and Paradise Island, Bahamas. Turnberry has developed more than $10 billion in commercial and residential property – including luxury resorts and hotels, high-end shopping and cultural destinations, and mixed-used properties and communities. The company has earned a reputation for excellence, creativity, and civic responsibility. Today, the company is led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jackie Soffer.
