Jackie Soffer is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Turnberry, one of the country’s premier real estate development and hospitality groups. Founded more than 50 years ago in South Florida, the company specializes in large-scale lifestyle developments within the hospitality, retail, residential, and commercial sectors.

Soffer has helped evolve Turnberry from a regional leader into one of the most creative and dynamic organizations in real estate today. Turnberry owns and operates more hotel rooms than any organization in South Florida including the legendary    Fontainebleau Miami Beach, one of the world’s top destination resorts, as well as JW Marriott Turnberry Miami, a 300-acre resort and country club in South Florida, JW Marriott Nashville, a 533-room hotel located in downtown Nashville, Hilton Downtown Nashville, a 330-room hotel in downtown Nashville, and an extensive portfolio of Select Service properties throughout the United States.

Turnberry is a prolific developer in the retail and residential space. This began with the development of the masterplan community Aventura, Florida. This landmark development included thousands of residential units alongside world class luxury services and entertainment offerings such as Turnberry Isle Country Club and the Aventura Mall.  Soffer transformed Aventura Mall from a classic regional shopping mall into one of the country’s premier lifestyle destinations by attracting world class retailers such as Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Cartier, Gucci, Fendi, and integrating them with museum quality contemporary art by Carsten Höller, Ugo Rondinone, The Haas Brothers, Mark Handforth, Jorge Pardo, Julian Opie, Donald Baechler, Louise Bourgeois, Daniel Arsham, and many more.  Soffer has continued to magnify this vision with a new tri-level, 315,000 square-foot expansion of Aventura Mall that showcases the next evolution of experiential retail, designed by world-renowned architect Carlos Zapata.

Turnberry recently formed a partnership with LeFrak to develop a 184-acre site along Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami aptly named SoLē Mia. The largest development in North Miami’s history, when complete SoLē Mia will include 1.4 million square feet of retail, 37 acres of parks, 4,390 residences, 2 multi acre crystal lagoons, a hotel, dining outlets, and market-leading entertainment experiences.

In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities for Turnberry, Soffer serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Washington Prime Group, a retail real estate investment trust with a portfolio of 120 enclosed regional malls and open-air lifestyle community centers. She is a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. She is a member of the University of Miami Board of Trustees, and the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.
