Rock Soffer oversees leasing, asset acquisitions, zoning and site approvals, and development of specialty projects.

Soffer’s portfolio includes 17 WEST, a five-story, mixed-use project in Miami Beach, one block north of Lincoln Road Mall. The 176,000 square-foot, mixed-use building will be anchored by the city’s first Trader Joe’s, and feature pedestrian-friendly, ground-floor retail, 26 boutique residential units and public parking. Designed by architect Carlos Prio-Touzet, the site is at the intersection of 17th Street and the convergence point of West Avenue and Alton Road. Prio-Touzet’s design spans the full frontage of 17th Street and connects two properties with a vehicular bridge on the second level. The structure marks the transition from Miami Beach to the Venetian Islands.

In addition, Soffer is overseeing the development and project management of the new 800-key Grand Hyatt Miami Beach hotel, a partnership between Turnberry and David Martin’s Terra Group. Upon completion, the privately funded property will be the cornerstone of the Convention Center District, and a destination in its own right.

Soffer also oversaw completion of the redevelopment of Town Center Aventura, an almost 200,000 square-foot open-air lifestyle shopping center south of Aventura Mall. Anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH and Publix, Town Center Aventura is home to restaurants Novecento and Bonefish Grill, as well as retailers ELAN, Tupelo Honey, ITALKRAFT and Italica. The center is a popular destination for Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, North Miami and Bal Harbour residents, as well as those who work in the area.

A Miami Beach resident, Soffer is an advocate for responsible, environmentally sustainable development, which is an integral part of Turnberry’s vision. He is actively involved in the local community and sits on the board of Ayiti Community Trust.
