Aly-khan Merali is the President and Chief Financial Officer of Turnberry. Merali who joined the company in 2013 and is a member of the Executive Committee, oversees the Asset Management, Finance and Treasury, Accounting, Legal, Human Resources and Information Systems divisions of the company.  In addition, he also oversees all of the capital activities, investments, joint ventures and divestitures as relates to Turnberry Associates’ multi-billion dollar portfolio of retail, hotel and resort, office, residential and development projects. To date these executions are approaching $4 billion.

Merali has over 20-years of real estate investing and operations experience.  Prior to joining Turnberry, Merali was an Executive Vice President and Head of Acquisitions for the Gencom Group, a Florida based hotel investment venture with a portfolio of assets that spanned North America, Europe and the Caribbean.  Prior to that, Merali worked and lived internationally while maintaining leadership and at times ownership positions in real estate based company’s in the United Kingdom, Canada and East Africa; property types included industrial and manufacturing, seniors living, office, and resort.

Merali holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University in Canada, and a Masters degree with a focus in real estate finance from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.  While at Cornell, Merali was both a Dean’s List student and the Vice President of the Associate Real Estate Chapter.   Merali is a member of the Cornell Hotel School’s Young Advisory Counsel and of the Cornell Hotel Society’s South Florida Chapter.  He is also active in the various charities that Turnberry is involved with, and has held volunteer positions with organizations focused on bettering the economic position of those within the communities that he has lived.
