Alan Philips leads the brand strategy for Turnberry’s hospitality, retail, residential and luxury services divisions and identifies opportunities for revenue growth through innovation and brand building. With focus on branding, creative, digital marketing, and special projects, he oversees creative outputs, digital assets, advertising, communications, social media, public relations, and concept development.
Alan has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality business. Prior to joining Turnberry, Alan served as the Senior Vice President of Brand Experience for WeWork, playing an integral part in the growth of the company in the United States and Europe. He also served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Morgans Hotel Group where he oversaw the concepting, marketing, and development of boutique hotels and their associated brands in the U.S., Europe, Caribbean, Middle East, and Asia, as well as the management and development of Morgan’s global food and beverage business.
Alan’s career began on the culinary stage with chef Wolfgang Puck at the original Spago Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard. Prior to starting his own business, he also maintained positions with Myriad Restaurant Group and Strategic Group. In 2001, he launched his own hospitality marketing & consulting firm, Sky Group, working on projects for hotels, casinos, restaurants, chefs, nightclubs, caterers, and mobile food operations both nationally and internationally. In 2010, he brought the first “pop up” restaurants to New York with his company Guerrilla Culinary Brigade and has executed over a dozen “pop up” projects since helping start the trend in the United States. A published author and regular media contributor, Philips attended Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and was chosen in 2016 as one of PR Week’s Innovation 50.
