Nordstrom and Three-level expansion wing debut at Aventura mall

AVENTURA, FL (February 15, 2008) – Aventura Mall debuted its $125 million expansion today, introducing a new two-story, 165,000-square-foot Nordstrom and three-level wing of upscale stores and restaurants.

Retailers open in the new wing include BCBGMAXAZRIA (flagship), Chico’s, Damiani, Lilly Pulitzer, Niccolo & Maffeo and White House/Black Market. Throughout the spring, other high-end stores will debut including Adolfo Dominguez, AG Adriano Goldschmied, Astoria, Atelier Prive, BOSS Store (flagship), Calvin Klein (10,000-square-foot “white label” store), Equinox Fitness Clubs, Ferrari Store, For Love 21, XXI Forever (30,000 square-foot flagship), Gilly Hicks (Abercrombie & Fitch concept), Havana Nines, Intimacy, La Martina, Lounge, M. Missoni, Origins, Uptown and Victoria Couture. In addition, Ocean Prime, a fine-dining concept by award-winning restaurateur Cameron Mitchell, will premier its first South Florida restaurant in the Aventura Mall expansion. Created, owned and managed by South Florida-based Turnberry Associates, Aventura Mall is one of South Florida’s preeminent shopping, dining and entertainment destinations. The mall, which annually welcomes more than 20 million visitors, will celebrate its 25th anniversary April 27.

“The continued evolution of Aventura Mall will focus on solidifying its premier market position, both locally and internationally, and expanding its base to the luxury retail segment,” said Turnberry Associates Founder and Managing Partner Donald Soffer. “We’re proud to welcome Nordstrom and more than 30 new retailers to our increasingly upscale tenant mix.” In addition to the expansion, new Aventura Mall tenants opening in 2008 include 7 for all Mankind, Cut & Sew by Marc Ecko, Geox, Hollister, Kate Spade, Lucy, LUSH, Oakley and Reiss. The Apple store and Koko & Palenki are set to undergo significant expansions. The Grill on the Alley, a fine dining establishment from Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, will open its newest location at Aventura Mall.

The mall also recently underwent a $22 million comprehensive renovation, which included replacement of all floors with fine Italian porcelain and new sculpted railings made of glass and bronze with rich wood caps. Aventura Mall also is now home to the Turnberry for the Arts, a major contemporary arts collection, which includes new site-specific installations by Jorge Pardo and Lawrence Weiner, sculptures by Julian Opie and Tom Otterness, and a children’s playground by Miami artists Friends With You. Works by Louise Bourgeois, Donald Baechler, Gary Hume, Jim Dime, Jaume Plensa, Daniel Arsham and others will be installed throughout the mall during 2008. Adjacent to Nordstrom, Turnberry constructed a three-story parking garage with nearly 2,000 spaces.
