LAS VEGAS (Nov. 14, 2007) – Around every corner of Town Square Las Vegas are the architectural hallmarks of the world’s greatest cities – inspired facades, skillful renditions and detailed design elements complete the 22 buildings that serve as the backbone of the 117-acre shopping, dining and entertainment center.

Alan J Mayer - Architect, and Development Design Group traveled from the east coast to west coast, from Italy to Spain to France and numerous points in between to gather ideas and insight that would help them create an authentic rendition of a town that grew over time.
“We turned to some of America’s older cities for inspiration – those with a rich history, such as Boston, New York and San Francisco, as well as great European cities like Barcelona and Paris,” said Alan Mayer, principal. “We created rich and vibrant streets with all the layers and detail found within any living city. We varied the tempo of the buildings, the widths of the facades and the materials and details so that each street has its own beat -- from old world charm and sophistication to high-energy modern.”

Located on Las Vegas Boulevard at the intersection of I-15 and the 215 Beltway, Town Square is a 1.5 million-square-foot open-air lifestyle center. The 22 Town Square buildings feature more than 70 different facades crafted from such authentic materials as marble, stone and hand-painted plaster. A traditional Town Square park for concerts and other special events and an interactive children’s park serve as the center’s core.
Developed by Turnberry Associates and Centra Properties, Town Square is setting a new architectural benchmark in the retail industry.

“Today, retail is not just about buying a new shirt or pair of shoes, but about creating a memorable place where you can spend the whole day dining, shopping, playing and being entertained,” said Philip S. Goldfarb, President and Chief Operating Officer for Turnberry Associates. “We took all of these elements and integrated them within Town Square so families would have a place to gather, couples can watch live entertainment, children can play in the park and patrons can partake in the diverse mix of retail shops and restaurants.”
According to Simon A. Sykes, vice president of Development Design Group, Town Square’s smaller architectural components played a large role in laying the foundation for a true sense of community.
“We spent as much time designing the spaces between the buildings as we did the buildings themselves,” Sykes said. “It’s the gathering places and streetscapes that appeal to the senses of visitors. Town Square provides an environment that gives people a real sense of community and be a wonderful place to see and be seen.”

Streets are illuminated with custom lampposts that create the feeling of an old downtown neighborhood, while pedestrian walkways allow guests to meander through various city blocks. Classic benches provide a place to rest, lush landscaping and trees offer shade and festival lighting glows above Town Square’s streets in the evening.

“We’ve created a real life experience for locals and visitors,” Goldfarb said. “Patrons will want to come back time and time again as there will always be something new to see and enjoy at Town Square.” An eclectic mix of retailers comprise Town Square’s shopping experience with a wide array currently open, including an 18-screen Rave Motion Pictures, H&M, Guitar Center, Martin & Osa, Abercrombie & Fitch, Apple, Lucky Brand Jeans, Chico’s, White House|Black Market, Soma, Metropark, Express and more. In early 2008, Borders Books, Whole Foods Market, Robb & Stucky and numerous others will debut. ElevenSpa Vegas also will open a large day spa on site. When complete, the center will include 150 exciting retailers. Numerous restaurants will be on the menu at Town Square, offering new dining concepts and culinary creations to the center’s patrons. Town Square will showcase several restaurant concepts new to Las Vegas including, The Grape, Louis’s Fish Camp, Louis’s Las Vegas, Tommy Bahama Tropical Café & Emporium, Yard House, Texas de Brazil, Brio Tuscan Grille, Bar Louie, Blue Martini, Straits Café and Kabuki Japanese Restaurant. Favorites California Pizza Kitchen and Claim Jumper will also open locations at Town Square. The center opened with Louis’s Las Vegas, Louis’s Fish Camp and Claim Jumper, and the remaining restaurants will be introduced throughout the spring.
