More than 10,000 feet of fiber optic cable and 52,000 feet of copper cable installed at 13 access points throughout the mall are giving visitors with Wi-Fi enabled portable devices, such as laptops and PDAs, the ability to surf the internet at high-speed, download large files or simply check emails and up-to-the-minute stock quotes. The network took approximately four months to install and is built entirely on standard Cisco Systems technologies and equipment.

The addition of the network is just one facet of Turnberry’s $21 million Aventura Mall renovation, scheduled for completion in November 2006. Turnberry is also planning Wi-Fi installation in several of its other retail centers in the coming months, including Destin Commons, located in Destin, Fla., and the under-construction Town Square in Las Vegas.
